Nissan Micra K11 GT1752 "Screamer" Turbo Kit

Looking for a cost-effective way to turbocharge your K11 without piecing together dozens of individual components?

The GizFab GT1752 "Screamer" Turbo Kit has been developed as our budget-friendly complete hardware package for turbocharging the Nissan Micra K11.

Built around the readily available GT1752 turbocharger and a Turbosmart WG40 external wastegate, the kit provides the core mechanical components required to convert the CG10DE, CG13DE or CGA3DE to forced induction.

And yes, it's called the Screamer Kit for exactly the reason you think.

The external wastegate vents directly to atmosphere, giving the car the aggressive screamer-pipe exhaust note associated with externally gated turbo setups.

Designed, Built & Test-Fitted by GizFab

Every kit is designed and developed around our own K11 development vehicles.

Before shipping, each kit is assembled and physically test-fitted on our dedicated development Micra before being removed, packaged and sent to the customer.

This allows us to check the fitment and relationship between the major components before the kit leaves the workshop.

  • Uprated Fuel Pump

These components will need to be selected around the specification of your particular vehicle and intended power level.

Engine Compatibility

The kit has been designed for the Nissan Micra K11 CG engine family, including:

  • 1.0L CG10DE
  • 1.3L CG13DE
  • 1.4L CGA3DE

The kit can be used with both:

  • Distributor / Dizzy Engines
  • Coil Pack Engines

As with any K11, particularly one that has been modified during its life, we recommend confirming the actual engine and ignition configuration rather than relying solely on registration year.

Which Engine is Best?

Our personal preference for turbo builds has traditionally been the earlier Distributor CG10DE and CG13DE engines.

We've had excellent results from these engines and their relatively simple configuration makes them a good foundation for a turbo conversion.

However, there is no escaping one fundamental advantage:

Displacement.

A larger-capacity engine will generally produce more torque for a given overall setup.

The CG13DE and CGA3DE therefore make excellent foundations for a responsive turbocharged K11.

That doesn't mean you should immediately disregard the humble 998cc CG10DE.

The 1.0 remains an extremely popular turbo conversion because the engines are readily available, relatively inexpensive and, with a sensible setup and good calibration, can transform the way a K11 drives.

Engine Condition Matters More Than the Badge on the Boot

These engines are now decades old.

A healthy 1.0 is a considerably better starting point than a tired 1.3 or 1.4.

Before turbocharging any CG engine, we strongly recommend checking its basic mechanical health.

Depending on the build, this may include:

  • Compression Test
  • Leak-Down Test
  • Oil Pressure
  • Cooling System Condition
  • Excessive Blow-By
  • Oil Consumption
  • Timing Chain Condition
  • Ignition System
  • Fuel System

Adding boost to an already unhealthy engine generally just helps you discover the problem considerably faster.

What Power Can I Expect?

There is no single guaranteed power figure from a turbo kit.

Final output depends on:

  • Engine Capacity
  • Engine Condition
  • Boost Pressure
  • Turbocharger Condition
  • Fuel System
  • Fuel Quality
  • Intake & Exhaust
  • ECU
  • Ignition Timing
  • ECU Calibration
  • Dyno & Testing Method

However, as a real-world reference, our development setups have produced:

CG10DE 998cc

145 HP @ 1.0 Bar

CG13DE 1275cc

158 HP @ 1.0 Bar

These figures were achieved using deliberately conservative calibrations with reliability prioritised over chasing the largest possible dyno number.

Higher outputs may be achievable with the appropriate engine, supporting modifications and calibration, but these figures should not be interpreted as a guaranteed safe power level for every standard CG engine.

Every engine is different.

3D-Printed Turbo Log Manifold

At the heart of the kit is our compact 3D-printed turbo log manifold.

Additive manufacturing allows us to create internal geometry and packaging that would be difficult to reproduce using a conventional fabricated log manifold while keeping the design compact enough for the K11 engine bay.

The manifold provides a cost-effective foundation for the GT1752 package without the cost associated with our more elaborate premium turbo manifold designs.

GT1752 Turbocharger

The GT1752 provides a cost-effective turbocharger option well suited to the intended power range of this package.

Combined with the relatively small capacity of the CG engine, it provides a responsive setup capable of dramatically changing the character of the K11 without requiring an enormous turbocharger designed around headline power figures.

As always, turbocharger performance depends on the complete engine and calibration.

Turbosmart WG40 External Wastegate

Boost control is handled by a Turbosmart WG40 external wastegate.

Unlike an internally gated turbo arrangement, the external wastegate provides a dedicated exhaust gas bypass separate from the turbine housing.

And in this version of the kit, that wastegate outlet vents directly to atmosphere.

Hence:

SCREAMER.

When the wastegate opens under boost, exhaust gas is discharged directly through the screamer pipe rather than being recirculated into the main exhaust system.

The result is extremely loud.

⚠️ Screamer Pipe Warning

This configuration is intended for customers who specifically want the noise and character of an atmospheric external wastegate.

It may not comply with road or motorsport noise regulations in your area.

If subtlety is important to you, the Screamer Kit probably isn't the version you want.

Custom Front-Mount Intercooler

The kit includes a custom intercooler featuring 3D-printed end tanks, together with the required intercooler pipework.

Compressing air through a turbocharger generates heat.

The intercooler helps remove heat from the compressed charge air before it enters the engine, helping provide a denser intake charge and greater resistance to detonation.

Correct intercooler installation and unobstructed airflow remain important to the performance of the complete system.

Turbo Oil Feed & Return

The kit includes the required turbo oil feed and drain components, together with a brand-new modified sump incorporating the turbo oil return.

This removes the need for the customer to remove and modify their existing sump to provide the turbocharger drain.

Correct oil drain routing is extremely important.

The turbocharger oil return should provide a suitable gravity-assisted path back into the sump without unnecessary restrictions, sharp bends or uphill sections that can cause oil to back up within the turbocharger.

Will it Fit a K11 with Factory Air Conditioning?

MAIL-ORDER KIT: NO.

The standard mail-order GT1752 kit is not compatible with factory air conditioning.

Space around the factory A/C compressor makes the installation considerably more complicated.

A/C-compatible installations therefore need to be custom-built around the vehicle at our workshop.

If retaining factory air conditioning is essential, please contact us before ordering to discuss the available options.

Do I Need to Bring My Car to GizFab?

No.

Every standard kit is test-fitted on our own development vehicle before shipping.

There is no requirement to bring your vehicle to us unless:

  • You want us to install the kit.
  • You require a custom installation.
  • You need an A/C-compatible setup.

For customers who would rather hand us the keys and collect a turbocharged Micra afterwards, contact us regarding our Drive-In, Drive-Out installation service.

Can I Use the Factory ECU?

No - suitable aftermarket engine management is required.

Turbocharging dramatically changes the airflow and operating requirements of the engine.

Correct control over fuelling and ignition timing under boost is critical.

Attempting to operate a turbocharged engine under load without suitable engine management and calibration can result in:

  • Lean Air/Fuel Ratios
  • Detonation / Knock
  • Excessive Exhaust Gas Temperatures
  • Piston Damage
  • Ringland Failure
  • Head Gasket Failure
  • Complete Engine Failure

Do not operate the vehicle under boost until the engine management has been correctly configured and professionally calibrated.

Which ECU Do We Recommend?

Our preferred system is the Haltech Elite 1500.

It's the ECU platform we know, use and have considerable experience with on turbocharged K11s.

For Distributor-equipped engines, a suitable plug-and-play arrangement is available, making installation considerably simpler than building an entire standalone ECU loom from scratch.

Other Haltech ECUs and standalone systems can also be used, but may require considerably more custom wiring.

There are plenty of capable standalone ECUs available.

The important part is choosing a system that your tuner understands and can properly configure for the engine.

What About Fuel Injectors?

Yes, you will need larger injectors.

More air requires more fuel.

The original injectors were never designed to supply the fuel requirements of a turbocharged engine at these airflow levels.

Coil Pack Engines

The later Coil Pack engines use a top-feed fuel rail arrangement that makes injector upgrades relatively straightforward.

These can accept common 14mm top-feed injector arrangements, subject to the correct injector length, electrical connector, fuel rail configuration and calibration data.

We've successfully used suitable Bosch 550cc injectors in these applications.

Injector selection should ultimately be based on the required fuel flow, fuel pressure and intended power output rather than simply copying another vehicle's setup.

Distributor Engines

Distributor engines use a side-feed injector arrangement, which makes injector selection considerably more restrictive.

One common solution is converting the fuel system to use suitable larger side-feed injectors or an alternative fuel rail arrangement.

Whatever route is chosen, the injectors and fuel system must be correctly configured within the ECU before the engine is operated under load.

Do I Need a Fuel Pump?

We strongly recommend fitting a new high-flow fuel pump.

The original K11 fuel pump may now be more than two decades old.

A pump that was perfectly adequate for a standard naturally aspirated Micra may not be capable of maintaining the required fuel pressure and flow on a turbocharged engine.

If fuel pressure falls under boost, the engine can rapidly run lean.

A lean condition under boost can result in catastrophic engine damage.

For that reason, we consider a healthy, appropriately sized fuel pump cheap insurance when carrying out a turbo conversion.

Is the Kit Difficult to Install?

The conversion is suitable for somebody with good mechanical knowledge and experience working on modified vehicles.

You should be comfortable carrying out work involving:

  • Exhaust Manifold Removal
  • Turbocharger Installation
  • Engine Oil System Components
  • Sump Replacement
  • Intercooler Installation
  • Intake & Boost Pipework
  • Fuel System Modifications
  • Sensors
  • Exhaust Components

Engine management installation and calibration should be carried out by somebody suitably experienced.

If you're not confident completing the installation yourself, we recommend using a qualified professional.
