Nissan Micra K10 Chassis Mounted Short Shifter

Developed by GizFab for the Nissan Micra K10, our Chassis Mounted Short Shifter provides a more direct and precise gear change with excellent mechanical feedback.

Unlike the factory arrangement, the shifter assembly is mounted directly to the vehicle chassis and removes the requirement for the original gear linkage stabiliser bar, creating a much more purposeful gear change ideally suited to motorsport and competition applications.

Chassis Mounted Design

The factory K10 gear selector forms part of the original linkage arrangement, including a stabiliser bar between the linkage and drivetrain.

Our chassis-mounted design removes the requirement for this stabiliser bar and mounts the shifter assembly directly to the vehicle chassis.

This provides a solid and consistent mounting point for the gear lever, resulting in a more positive and mechanical shift feel.

For a competition vehicle, where precision and feedback take priority over factory refinement, this provides a considerable improvement in the overall feel of the gear change.

Short Shifter Included

The actual short shifter is included with the kit.

You do not need to purchase a separate shifter assembly to complete the installation.

The supplied shifter is available in:

Anodised Black Only

The shifter is combined with our machined billet aluminium mounting plate to create the complete chassis-mounted assembly.

No Modification to the Existing Gear Linkage

One of the main advantages of our design is that installation does not require the existing K10 gear linkage to be cut, shortened or otherwise modified.

This provides a much cleaner conversion than arrangements requiring permanent fabrication of the original linkage.

However, while the gear linkage itself does not require modification, some interior trimming is necessary if retaining the factory interior plastics.

⚠️ INTERIOR PLASTIC TRIMMING REQUIRED

If you intend to retain the original K10 centre console and surrounding interior plastics:

TRIMMING OF THE INTERIOR PLASTICS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE CLEARANCE FOR THE SHIFTER.

The amount of trimming required may vary depending on the vehicle's interior configuration and the desired finished appearance.

We recommend trial-fitting the complete shifter assembly before progressively trimming the surrounding plastics.

Weather Seals Included

Suitable weather seals are included with the kit.

Because the shifter assembly mounts through the vehicle body, these seals should be correctly installed to help prevent water, dirt, road debris and fumes entering the passenger compartment around the mounting area.

Correct sealing should always be verified following installation.

⚠️ UPRATED ENGINE MOUNT BUSHINGS RECOMMENDED

The chassis-mounted shifter removes the need for the original gear linkage stabiliser bar.

This means controlling engine and gearbox movement becomes more important.

During acceleration, deceleration and rapid throttle changes, the engine and gearbox naturally move within their mounts.

The chassis-mounted shifter remains fixed to the body while the drivetrain can move independently.

Excessive movement from soft, deteriorated or standard engine mounting bushes can therefore create unwanted movement within the relationship between the linkage and gearbox during transient throttle conditions.

For this reason:

UPRATED ENGINE MOUNT BUSHINGS ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED WHEN USING THIS SHIFTER.

Reducing drivetrain movement helps maintain a more consistent relationship between the chassis-mounted shifter, gear linkage and gearbox.

This becomes particularly important during aggressive acceleration, deceleration and rapid gear changes.

Motorsport-Focused Gear Change

This shifter has been developed primarily for motorsport and competition applications, where direct gear selection and feedback are prioritised over factory levels of refinement.

Compared with the original K10 shifter arrangement, customers should expect:

These characteristics are normal for a chassis-mounted motorsport shifter.

Recommended Supporting Components

For the best results, the complete drivetrain mounting and gear linkage system should be inspected before installation.

Particular attention should be given to:

• Engine Mount Bushings
• Gear Linkage UJ
• Gear Linkage Bushes
• Gearbox Selector Mechanism
• Engine & Gearbox Mounting Hardware

Any excessive wear elsewhere within the system can negatively affect the operation of the new shifter.

Professional Installation Recommended

Before installation, inspect the vehicle floor, mounting points and complete gear linkage for corrosion, damage, excessive wear or previous modification.

During installation:

• Trial Fit Before Cutting Interior Plastics
• Ensure the Gear Linkage Moves Freely
• Check Clearance throughout the Complete Shift Pattern
• Ensure Weather Seals are Correctly Positioned
• Confirm All Fasteners are Secure
• Check Every Gear Can Be Selected Positively
• Check for Binding or Interference
• Recheck Mounting Hardware After Initial Use

The vehicle should not be driven if the linkage binds or if any gear cannot be selected correctly.

⚠️ MOTORSPORT USE RECOMMENDED

This is a motorsport-focused chassis-mounted shifter.

The reduced isolation and increased mechanical feedback mean it is considerably less refinement-focused than the original Nissan gear selector arrangement.

For this reason, we recommend this product primarily for:

12-Month Warranty*

This product is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from purchase.

Our obligation under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at our discretion, where inspection confirms a manufacturing or material defect.

The warranty does not cover normal wear, cosmetic deterioration, incorrect installation, incorrect interior modification, worn or damaged surrounding gear linkage components, excessive drivetrain movement caused by worn or unsuitable engine mounts, modification of supplied components, impact damage, misuse or motorsport accident damage.

Increased mechanical noise, vibration and gear shift feedback are normal characteristics of a chassis-mounted motorsport shifter and are not considered manufacturing defects.
