Suzuki Ignis Adjustable Panhard Rod

Designed and manufactured by GizFab, our Suzuki Ignis Adjustable Panhard Rod allows the rear axle to be correctly re-centred after lowering the vehicle.

Lowering a vehicle fitted with a fixed-length Panhard rod changes the resting angle of the rod. Because the Panhard rod travels through an arc as the suspension moves, reducing the ride height can cause the complete rear axle to shift laterally towards one side of the vehicle.

Our adjustable design allows the effective length of the Panhard rod to be altered, enabling the rear axle position to be corrected for the vehicle's new ride height.

Why Does Lowering Cause Axle Shift?

The Panhard rod is responsible for locating the rear axle laterally underneath the vehicle.

One end is attached to the chassis and the other to the axle. As the suspension moves vertically, the Panhard rod travels through an arc rather than directly up and down.

The factory fixed-length rod is designed around the vehicle's standard ride height. When the Ignis is lowered, the resting position and angle of the Panhard rod change.

Because the original rod cannot change length to compensate, this can cause the complete rear axle to move towards one side of the vehicle.

Correct Your Rear Axle Position

An adjustable Panhard rod allows its effective length to be changed until the rear axle is correctly positioned underneath the chassis at the vehicle's new ride height.

An incorrectly centred rear axle can result in:

• Unequal Wheel-to-Arch Position
• Reduced Tyre Clearance on One Side
• Increased Risk of Tyre-to-Body Contact
• Unequal Suspension Clearance
• Visibly Offset Rear Wheel Position
• Compromised Rear Suspension Geometry

This becomes particularly important on significantly lowered Ignis builds or vehicles running wider wheels and tyres where available clearance may already be limited.

Adjustable Design

The integrated threaded adjuster allows the effective length of the Panhard rod to be altered to suit the vehicle's actual ride height.

The adjuster is yellow zinc plated, providing additional corrosion resistance for a component that is constantly exposed to road dirt, moisture and the elements underneath the vehicle.

Once the vehicle has been set to its final ride height, the rod can be adjusted until the rear axle is correctly centred underneath the chassis.

Polyurethane Bushes

Our Panhard rod uses polyurethane bushes rather than conventional soft rubber bushes.

The reduced compliance helps provide more positive lateral axle location while retaining enough compliance for a suspension component of this type.

Compared with worn or excessively soft original bushes, this can provide a more controlled and direct feel from the rear suspension.

As with most uprated suspension bushes, some increase in noise, vibration or harshness may be noticeable compared with standard rubber components.

TIG-Welded Steel Construction

The Panhard rod is manufactured from steel and TIG welded before being finished in our signature dark grey metallic powder coat.

The combination provides a strong, durable component with a finish designed to withstand the environment underneath the vehicle.

As with any underbody suspension component, periodic cleaning and inspection are recommended. Any damage to the powder coating should be addressed to help prevent corrosion of the exposed steel underneath.

Professional Installation & Adjustment Required

This product should be installed and adjusted by a suitably qualified technician.

The vehicle should first be set to its final intended ride height and the suspension allowed to settle.

The rear axle position should then be measured using appropriate chassis reference points before adjusting the Panhard rod to correctly centre the axle.

It should not simply be adjusted according to how far each wheel sits inside or outside the wheel arch, as wheel offset, tyre dimensions and bodywork tolerances can produce misleading measurements.

Once adjustment is complete:

• Ensure Adequate Thread Engagement is Maintained
• Correctly Tighten All Locking Hardware
• Check Suspension & Tyre Clearances
• Check the Rod Throughout the Available Suspension Movement
• Recheck All Fasteners After a Short Period of Use

A suspension geometry check is recommended following installation, particularly where other suspension components or the vehicle's ride height have also been changed.

12-Month Warranty*

This product is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from purchase.

Our obligation under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at our discretion, where inspection confirms a manufacturing or material defect.

The warranty does not cover normal bush wear, cosmetic deterioration, corrosion resulting from coating damage or inadequate maintenance, damaged or seized adjustment threads, incorrect installation or adjustment, modification, accident or impact damage, misuse or damage resulting from defective or damaged surrounding chassis or suspension components.
