Nissan QG Engine Water Pump Delete Cover

A clean solution to one of the main clearance issues encountered when installing a QG-series engine into the Nissan Micra K11 chassis.

The QG engine is physically longer than the original K11 CG engine, which creates limited clearance between the engine, mechanical water pump pulley and chassis leg. Retaining the factory belt-driven water pump arrangement can therefore require the chassis leg to be locally notched or modified for clearance.

Our QG Water Pump Delete Cover allows the factory mechanical water pump to be removed and blanked off, making it possible to run an electric water pump instead.

This provides the additional clearance required to avoid modifying the chassis leg for the factory water pump arrangement.

Why Is It Needed?

When installing a QG engine into the K11 chassis, space on the timing side of the engine becomes extremely limited.

The factory mechanical water pump and its pulley extend towards the K11 chassis leg. If the complete factory belt-driven arrangement is retained, localised chassis modification may be required to provide sufficient clearance.

Removing the mechanical water pump and fitting this delete cover frees up valuable space between the engine and chassis.

For customers who would rather not cut or notch the chassis leg, an electric water pump combined with this delete cover provides an alternative solution.

Electric Water Pump Required

This product removes the factory mechanical water pump from operation.

An appropriate electric water pump and cooling system arrangement must therefore be installed to provide coolant circulation.

The electric water pump, controller, wiring and associated cooling-system components are not included with this product.

Correct electric water pump selection, installation and control are the responsibility of the installer.

Installation

Professional installation is strongly recommended.

The original mechanical water pump must be removed and the mounting/sealing surface thoroughly cleaned and prepared before installation.

A suitable gasket and/or sealant should be used as required to provide a reliable coolant seal.

The cooling system must be correctly configured, filled and bled before the engine is operated. The installer should also confirm adequate coolant circulation and monitor engine temperature carefully when initially commissioning the electric water pump system.

Important Clearance Note

This cover addresses the factory water pump clearance issue encountered during a QG-to-K11 conversion.

Depending on the exact engine, crank pulley, auxiliary drive arrangement and conversion specification, other areas of the engine installation may still require clearance checks or modification.

It should not be interpreted as guaranteeing that the complete QG engine conversion requires no chassis or component modifications.

This product is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from purchase.

Our obligation under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at our discretion, where inspection confirms a manufacturing or material defect.

The warranty does not cover coolant leaks resulting from incorrect installation or sealing, overheating, incorrect electric water pump selection or installation, inadequate coolant circulation, physical damage, modification, misuse or failure of surrounding cooling-system or engine components.
