Designed Specifically for the HR12

This intake has been developed around the HR12 3-cylinder engine found in the Nissan Micra K13.

Rather than adapting a generic length of pipe and universal cone filter to fit the engine bay, the complete intake has been CAD designed around the available space, factory MAF sensor arrangement and crankcase ventilation requirements of the vehicle.

The result is a properly integrated intake package designed specifically for the application.

Enlarged Intake Design

The intake pipe provides an enlarged airflow path compared with the restrictive sections of the original airbox arrangement.

The internal geometry has been designed to provide a smooth transition through the intake and towards the throttle body.

SLS 3D-Printed PA12 Nylon

Both the intake components and catch tank utilise Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D printing in PA12 nylon.

SLS manufacturing allows us to produce complex, application-specific geometry without the restrictions associated with conventional fabricated intake pipework.

PA12 provides an excellent combination of:

Integrated MAF Sensor Mounting

The original Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor mounting is integrated directly into the intake pipe.

This provides a clean installation without requiring a separate bolt-on MAF housing or additional adapter.

The factory MAF sensor is transferred into the new intake arrangement during installation.

⚠️ Handle the MAF Sensor Carefully

The MAF sensor is a sensitive electronic measuring device.

It should be handled carefully during installation and fitted in the correct orientation.

Do not touch or contaminate the sensing element.

Purpose-Designed Catch Tank Included

One of the most important differences between our intake and many basic aftermarket kits is the inclusion of a dedicated crankcase ventilation catch tank.

Why is it needed?

The original Nissan airbox does more than simply hold the air filter.

It also incorporates an internal oil separation function within the crankcase ventilation arrangement.

When the original airbox is removed, this function is removed with it.

Simply fitting a cone filter and intake pipe without considering the crankcase ventilation system can therefore leave an important part of the original arrangement unaccounted for.

Our solution is to incorporate a purpose-designed catch tank as part of the complete intake kit.

What Does the Catch Tank Do?

During normal engine operation, the crankcase ventilation system can carry a mixture of gases and suspended oil vapour.

The catch tank provides an area for this oil vapour to separate and collect rather than simply passing directly through the intake arrangement.

This helps replicate the oil separation function lost when the original airbox is removed.

The catch tank is also manufactured using SLS 3D-printed PA12 nylon, providing a lightweight and oil-resistant solution specifically designed around the K13 engine bay.

Catch Tank Maintenance

The catch tank should be inspected periodically and drained as required.

The amount of oil collected will vary depending on factors including:

• Engine Condition
• Mileage
• Driving Style
• Engine Load
• Oil Level
• Crankcase Blow-By

An unusually large amount of oil accumulation may indicate an underlying engine or crankcase ventilation issue and should be investigated.

100mm Performance Air Filter

The kit includes a 100mm performance air filter, providing a substantial filter area for the enlarged intake arrangement.

The exposed performance filter also provides a considerably more noticeable induction sound compared with the enclosed factory airbox.

Expect a more pronounced intake note during:

THIS KIT HAS BEEN DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THE HR12 3-CYLINDER ENGINE.

The wider Nissan HR engine family includes several related engines, including HR15 and HR16 variants.

While these engines share aspects of their basic architecture, differences in:

mean that this HR12 intake kit cannot be guaranteed to fit HR15, HR16 or other HR-family engines.
