Unlike a conventional open filter mounted inside the engine bay, this system positions the performance air filter directly behind the front grille, placing it in a much cooler and more direct airflow path.

The intake combines a front-mounted airbox, high-flow flat-oval crossover tube and integrated throttle-body bellmouth to create a large, low-profile intake system that clears the top of the CG engine while fitting beneath the bonnet.

Why Front-Mount the Air Filter?

An open air filter located within the engine bay can be exposed to significant radiant and convected heat from the engine, radiator and exhaust system.

This kit moves the filter away from those major heat sources and positions it directly behind the front grille, where it has access to incoming ambient air.

The objective is to provide the engine with a cooler and less heat-soaked air supply while retaining a large filter area and unrestricted intake path.

Actual intake temperature and performance will still depend on factors including:

• Vehicle Speed
• Ambient Temperature
• Engine Bay Temperature
• Grille Configuration
• Radiator Heat
• Engine Specification

No specific horsepower increase is guaranteed from the intake alone.

High-Flow Flat-Oval Crossover Tube

One of the biggest challenges when designing a large intake for the K11 is getting sufficient cross-sectional area over the top of the engine without running into the bonnet.

A conventional large-diameter round tube quickly becomes too tall.

Our solution is a wide, flat-oval crossover section.

The internal cross-sectional area is equivalent to approximately a:

114mm / 4.5" Diameter Round Tube

This provides a very large airflow path while keeping the overall height of the intake considerably lower than an equivalent circular tube.

The result is a system that can provide substantial airflow capacity while maintaining the packaging required within the compact K11 engine bay.

Integrated Throttle-Body Bellmouth

At the throttle-body end of the crossover tube, the intake incorporates a purpose-designed bellmouth transition.

Rather than allowing incoming air to meet an abrupt edge immediately before entering the throttle body, the bellmouth provides a smoother transition into the opening.

This helps reduce unnecessary turbulence and flow separation as air enters the throttle body.

The bellmouth is integrated directly into the intake component rather than being a separate bolt-on piece.

SLS 3D-Printed PA12 Nylon Construction

The main intake components are manufactured using Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) in PA12 nylon.

SLS manufacturing allows us to create complex geometry that would be extremely difficult to reproduce using conventional tube fabrication, particularly the large flat-oval crossover profile and integrated bellmouth.

PA12 provides a useful combination of:

As K11s are frequently engine and loom swapped, we recommend identifying the actual engine configuration rather than relying solely on registration year.

Strut Brace Compatibility

The low-profile crossover design has been developed and confirmed to clear our GizFab K11 strut braces.

Other Manufacturers' Strut Braces

We cannot guarantee clearance with every aftermarket brace.

Different manufacturers use different:

If your vehicle is fitted with a third-party strut brace, clearance should be checked before ordering.

Exhaust Manifold Compatibility

The intake has been designed and confirmed to clear the following manifold arrangements:

These manifold designs occupy additional space within the intake's required routing area.

Other Aftermarket Manifolds

We cannot guarantee compatibility with manifolds manufactured by other companies.

Aftermarket manifold dimensions and runner positions vary considerably, so clearance should be confirmed before ordering.

Ramair Performance Air Filter

The kit includes a Ramair performance air filter positioned directly behind the front grille.

The mounting arrangement may also accept other filters of a suitable neck size and physical dimensions, although compatibility with alternative filters is the customer's responsibility.

The supplied Ramair filter has been selected around the intended airflow requirements and available front-end packaging of the kit.

What About Rain?

The filter sits behind the front grille but remains positioned sufficiently high within the front of the vehicle that normal rain and normal road spray are not expected to present an issue when the system is correctly installed.

The filter is also partially shielded by the surrounding front-end structure.

However, as with any forward-mounted intake, sensible consideration must be given to extreme water exposure.

Do Not Abuse the Vehicle Around Deep Water

Driving aggressively through:

• Flood Water
• Deep Standing Water
• Fords
• Streams
• Water Deep Enough to Submerge the Intake

can expose the filter to significantly more water than the system is designed to encounter.

If sufficient liquid water is drawn into an engine, serious engine damage can occur.

Normal rain is very different from deliberately driving through deep water.

12-Month Warranty*

This product is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from purchase.

Our obligation under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at our discretion, where inspection confirms a manufacturing or material defect.

The warranty does not cover incorrect installation, physical impact, excessive heat from incompatible exhaust components, use with an incompatible engine or manifold arrangement, inadequate filtration, contaminated filters, deliberate deep-water exposure, water ingestion, modification of the intake or damage caused by surrounding components.

The air filter is a service component and normal contamination or deterioration through use is not considered a manufacturing defect.
