Ford Fiesta MK1/ MK2 Adjustable Panhard Rod

An important suspension upgrade for lowered vehicles using a Panhard rod rear suspension arrangement.

Lowering the vehicle changes the operating angle of the original fixed-length Panhard rod. Because the rod travels through an arc as the suspension moves, changing the vehicle's resting ride height can cause the complete rear axle to shift laterally towards one side of the vehicle.

Our Adjustable Panhard Rod allows the effective rod length to be altered, enabling the rear axle to be correctly re-centred at the vehicle's new ride height.

On significantly lowered vehicles, correcting this axle shift is particularly important for maintaining appropriate suspension geometry, wheel positioning and tyre-to-body clearance.

Why Does Lowering Cause Axle Shift?

The Panhard rod is responsible for locating the rear axle laterally underneath the vehicle.

One end of the rod is attached to the chassis and the other to the axle.

As the suspension moves vertically, the Panhard rod pivots through an arc. This means the axle also moves slightly from side to side throughout the suspension's range of travel.

The original fixed-length Panhard rod is designed around the vehicle's factory ride height.

When the vehicle is lowered, the resting angle of the rod changes and the rear axle can be pulled towards one side of the chassis.

The further the suspension moves away from its original ride height, the more noticeable this displacement can become.

Why Correct the Axle Position?

Leaving the rear axle significantly offset can create problems including:

• Unequal Wheel-to-Arch Position
• Reduced Tyre Clearance on One Side
• Increased Risk of Tyre-to-Body Contact
• Compromised Rear Suspension Geometry
• Unequal Clearance Around Suspension Components
• Visibly Offset Rear Wheel Position

On heavily lowered vehicles with limited tyre clearance, excessive axle displacement can potentially create an unsafe clearance condition.

An adjustable Panhard rod allows the axle position to be corrected rather than accepting the position dictated by the original fixed-length rod.

Adjustable Design

The integrated threaded adjuster allows the effective length of the Panhard rod to be altered to suit the vehicle's actual ride height.

The adjusting screw features a yellow zinc-plated finish for improved corrosion resistance.

Once the rear axle has been correctly positioned, the adjustment must be securely locked in place.

Exposed adjustment threads should be periodically cleaned and maintained, particularly on vehicles exposed to moisture, dirt or other contaminants.

Polyurethane Bushed

The rod uses polyurethane bushes to provide more positive lateral axle location than soft or deteriorated factory rubber bushes.

Reduced bush compliance helps maintain more consistent axle positioning under load and provides improved suspension feedback.

Some additional Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) may be experienced compared with the original rubber-bushed component.

This is a normal characteristic of uprated polyurethane suspension components.

Precision TIG-Welded Construction

Each Panhard rod is precision TIG welded and finished in our signature metallic grey powder coat.

The combination of powder-coated main components and yellow zinc-plated adjustment hardware provides a durable finish suitable for modified and competition vehicles.

Professional Installation & Adjustment Required

This product should be installed and adjusted by a suitably qualified technician.

The vehicle should first be set to its final intended ride height and the suspension allowed to settle.

The rear axle position should then be measured relative to suitable chassis reference points before adjusting the Panhard rod.

The rod should be adjusted to correctly centre the axle underneath the vehicle.

It should not be deliberately shortened or extended simply to move the wheels towards one side for cosmetic fitment purposes.

Once adjustment is complete, all mounting and locking hardware must be correctly tightened.

The installation should be inspected again after the vehicle has covered a short distance.

Modifying suspension components and geometry can significantly alter vehicle handling. Correct installation, adjustment and ongoing inspection are essential.

12-Month Warranty*

This product is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from purchase.

Our obligation under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at our discretion, where inspection confirms a manufacturing or material defect.

The warranty does not cover normal wear or deterioration of polyurethane bushes, cosmetic deterioration, corrosion resulting from inadequate maintenance, damaged or seized adjustment threads, incorrect installation or adjustment, modification, accident or impact damage, misuse or damage resulting from defective surrounding suspension or chassis components.
