Honda 3G Civic / 1G CRX Adjustable Panhard Rod

Designed and manufactured by GizFab, our Adjustable Panhard Rod for the 3rd Generation Honda Civic and 1st Generation Honda CRX allows the rear axle to be correctly repositioned following changes to vehicle ride height.

Lowering the vehicle changes the operating angle of the factory fixed-length Panhard rod. Because the rod moves through an arc as the suspension travels, reducing the ride height can cause the rear axle to shift laterally towards one side of the vehicle.

Our adjustable Panhard rod allows the effective rod length to be altered, enabling the rear axle position to be corrected for the vehicle's new ride height.

Why Do I Need an Adjustable Panhard Rod?

The Panhard rod is responsible for laterally locating the rear axle underneath the vehicle.

One end is attached to the chassis and the other to the axle. As the suspension moves up and down, the rod travels through an arc rather than moving vertically.

At the original factory ride height, the standard fixed-length Panhard rod is designed around the factory suspension position.

When the vehicle is lowered, the resting angle of the Panhard rod changes.

This can cause the complete rear axle to sit further towards one side of the vehicle.

Correcting Rear Axle Shift

An adjustable Panhard rod allows the effective length to be changed until the rear axle is correctly positioned underneath the chassis at the vehicle's new ride height.

This becomes increasingly important as the vehicle is lowered.

Incorrect lateral axle position can result in:

• Reduced Tyre-to-Arch Clearance on One Side
• Rear Wheels Appearing Offset Within the Body
• Compromised Rear Suspension Geometry
• Clearance Issues on Heavily Lowered Vehicles

Rather than accepting the geometry created by a fixed-length factory rod, the adjustable design allows the rear suspension to be set up around the vehicle's actual ride height.

Adjustable Design

The integrated adjustment allows the Panhard rod length to be altered without manufacturing a different fixed-length rod for every possible ride height.

The vehicle should first be set to its intended final ride height before the rear axle position is measured and corrected.

Once the axle is correctly positioned, the adjustment must be securely locked in place.

Polyurethane Bushed

The rod uses polyurethane bushes to provide more positive axle location than soft or ageing factory rubber bushes.

Reducing unwanted bush compliance helps maintain more consistent rear suspension positioning under load and provides improved suspension feedback.

As with other uprated polyurethane suspension components, some increase in Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) may be experienced compared with the original factory bushes.

This is an inherent characteristic of the uprated component and is not considered a defect.

TIG-Welded All-Steel Construction

Each Panhard rod uses an all-steel construction with TIG-welded joints for a strong and durable suspension component suitable for modified vehicles.

Please confirm the rear suspension configuration before ordering where the vehicle has previously undergone significant suspension, chassis or axle modification.

Professional Installation & Setup Required

Professional installation by a suitably qualified technician is strongly recommended.

The vehicle should be set to its intended ride height and allowed to settle before final adjustment is carried out.

The rear axle should be centred using appropriate chassis reference points rather than relying solely on the visual position of the tyres relative to the wheel arches.

Wheel offset, bodywork tolerances and previous accident repairs can all influence visual measurements.

Once adjustment is complete, all locking and mounting hardware must be correctly tightened.

The installation should be inspected again after the vehicle has covered a short distance.

Important Suspension Notice

Changing the Panhard rod length changes the lateral position of the rear axle.

Incorrect adjustment can result in poor suspension geometry, reduced tyre or body clearance and undesirable handling characteristics.

The adjustable rod should be used to correct the axle position, not to deliberately force the axle excessively towards either side of the vehicle for wheel fitment purposes.

Motorsport & Off-Road Use

This product is intended for modified, motorsport and off-road applications.

Where applicable, the installer and vehicle owner are responsible for ensuring that the completed vehicle complies with the regulations governing its intended use.

12-Month Warranty*

This product is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from purchase.

Our obligation under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement, at our discretion, where inspection confirms a manufacturing or material defect.

The warranty does not cover normal wear or deterioration of polyurethane bushes, corrosion resulting from inadequate maintenance, damaged or seized adjustment threads, incorrect installation or adjustment, modification, accident or impact damage, misuse or damage resulting from defective surrounding suspension or chassis components.
